What to do to prepare for a Tap Class?
Your ankles and legs are going to get a big work out in a Tap class. Before you step into class it is a good idea before you even put your tap shoes on to do a dozen or so walks on the spot to warm up your legs.
Once your legs are feeling warm stretch and flex each foot about 8 times and then do ankle circles with each foot. Your ankle joints should be feeling loose and warm by now. If they aren’t, repeat the set again.
Once those ankles are feeling nice and ready, move onto your calf muscles. You will spend a lot of time on the balls of your feet in Tap and it will take its toll on your calf muscles. Give your calf muscles a bit of a massage to warm them up and do a standing calf stretch.
